The average age of the Goffs Thyestes Chase (3.00) winner since the turn of the millennium is eight so the advice is to look for an unexposed, up-and-coming chaser, who still holds a few secrets from the handicapper.

Half of the winners since 2000 have been eight or younger, and you need a touch of class with Invitation Only (2019), Champagne West (2017), Djakadam (2015) and dual winner On His Own (2012, 2014) going on to run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup after Gowran Park glory, with the latter finishing second in 2014.
