Our big-race analyst believes there's a forgotten horse lurking in the Gold Cup

Three recent winners took the JCB Trial at the November meeting, and the four to follow Allmankind home there and to subsequently have run have won. He was an easy winner against the quality and consistent Irish raider Cerberus in the Finale Hurdle at Chepstow. Making all will be more difficult here with several potential front-runners in the field.

Another front-runner, Aspire Tower was still disputing the lead when falling at the final flight at Leopardstown, paving the way for A Wave Of The Sea to prevail with a strong finish. The situation between the pair was totally different at Leopardstown after Christmas, when Aspire Tower hacked up in the best mid-season Irish trial, which has contained five of the nine Irish-trained winners over the past 40 years.
