If the forecasters are right the ground is going to be extremely testing for the Ladbrokes St Leger (3.45) at Doncaster this afternoon and that surely makes things much more complicated for clear form horse Idaho.

Placed in two Derbys and an easy last-time-out winner of the Great Voltigeur at York, which is the best trial, Idaho has form on testing ground and is by far the most likely winner, but he is stepping up two and half furlongs in trip and better horses than him have been found out by the stamina test in the Leger.

Having suggested backing Muntahaa a few weeks ago, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed with his win at Chester last time as he seemed to enjoy the run of the race and wasn’t that impressive off the home turn.
