Nottingham Placepot picks: Tom Collins takes you through his Wednesday perm

You won't get many tougher Placepot cards than Nottingham on Wednesday but the high level of difficulty should result in a large payout, so it's worth a go for minimal stakes.

There isn't much solid form to go by in the 5f maiden (1.00) but Leap Abroad and True Icon attracted support in stronger races on their debuts and are chosen for powerful connections.

Division one of the fillies' maiden (1.30) is sure to produce a number of subsequent winners. Fresh Hope, who travelled beautifully on debut, is chosen alongside the Ralph Beckett-trained Strega De Vega.

You could easily select a handful of runners in division two (2.00) and not get through, it's that competitive, but well-bred newcomers New Year Honours, Nusa Dua and Yarralumla are taken to go close.

Topweight Aristobulus is likely to bounce back in the 6f nursery (2.30) as he returns to the track where he recorded his breakthrough handicap success. Miss Calculation could cause a shock and place.

Tim Easterby holds a strong hand in the sprint final (3.00) and ticks go in the boxes of Flying Pursuit and Ava Go Joe. Finally Wallem, who was ridiculously unlucky when last seen at Sandown, looks a reliable banker in the middle-distance closer (3.30).
