Noseda's rapid improver can continue winning ways

Nakeeta
Trainer: Iain Jardine
10th, Chester, May 10
The Chester Cup seemed to be run at a slow pace, favouring those positioned closer to the lead and towards the inside. Nakeeta, who had finished runner-up in the previous running, was held up by Jamie Spencer and nothing went right for the six-year-old, who was keen early and was hampered when trying to improve his position around the field when the tempo lifted. You can put a line through this effort, he can bounce back.

Munro
Ralph Beckett
2nd, Chester, May 11
Chester’s May meeting produced the usual catalogue of hard-luck stories, and a strong contender for unluckiest loser of the meeting is this sprinter, who was always going to be up against it in this 6f handicap from a wide draw in stall ten. His jockey Fran Berry took the decision to drop him in and he was still at the back of the field entering the short home straight. He was making striking headway towards the inner when badly hampered inside the final furlong and got going again to be beaten a diminishing neck. He should soon be gaining compensation.

Winning Ways
Jeremy Noseda
Won, Ascot, May 12
This three-year-old is a work in progress and was making his fourth start for Noseda. The Lope De Vega colt has improved his RPR on each start for the trainer, and the style in which he won this 7f handicap suggests he could be Group class if continuing on an upward curve. He tanked through this contest and when asked to go clear two out he quickly put the race to bed. The distance suited, although he may stay further and equally has enough pace to be effective over a stiff 6f so connections have plenty of options.
