Nona backers could be left feeling blue

5.30 Salisbury

SP forecast 6-4

Has knocked at the door this month, finishing a close second at Brighton and over this course and distance last time. Decent Irish amateur booked and connections, striking while the iron is hot and before a 4lb rise kicks in. However, nearly two years since sole win and any rain is likely to diminish his chances (just one run on soft).

Conclusion Not a horse I would like to take such a short price about.

Novalina 7.35 Salisbury

SP forecast 13-8

Not hard-pressed to make all when getting off the mark stepped up to this trip at Ripon after showing only modest form on first two starts. Obvious claims on handicap debut for big yard with improvement on the cards, but handicapper does not appear to have taken any chances giving her a mark of 78 (Ripon second is now 0-5) and it is tougher to make all here.

Conclusion Opposable given weakness of Ripon race.
