No excuses for veteran sprinter back at favourite track

1pt winAll year on the straight track at Ascot it seems as if you've needed to be drawn either high or low, but the clerk of the course has muddied the waters today by putting the stalls in the centre of the track for the Neptune Investment Management Handicap (4.25).

At the last meeting when the stalls were on the stands' side the first five home in the big 17-runner 6f sprint were drawn 15-17-12-14-18 and nothing came close to playing a hand from down the centre.

However, there has to be a chance they will split into a couple of groups today and if that's the case the far side need not be such a disadvantage.
