WITH California Chrome bidding to confirm his greatness against a pair of top-class dirt rivals in Arrogate and Frosted, the Classic provides the obvious highlight on day two of the Breeders' Cup.

There may be more attractive betting options elsewhere, however, headed by the Mile (11.40), in which the brilliant Tepin defends her crown.

It remains to be seen whether rock-hard ground of the Californian variety will see the mighty mare to best effect, and while normally a six- to seven-furlong performer like Limato would be just the type for a typical US mile on a tight circuit – think Royal Academy – there is little incentive in his price.
