Newmarket Placepot picks: Graeme Rodway has some Godolphin bankers in his perm

There is an interesting card at Newmarket, where all but one of the races are restricted to two-year-olds.

The Placepot kicks off with the first division of the 7f novice (1.20). Marie Laveau made a promising debut at Newbury and goes in alongside Mexicali Rose.

The second division (1.55) is another race with little form to go on. Easy Salisbury winner Peace Of Mine is the solid one, but the Roger Varian-trained newcomer Sub Rosa should also be included.

Another 7f novice (2.25) comes up next and it's hard to get away from Charlie Appleby and William Buick. Bank on their runner Regal Honour, who was a close third over course and distance last month.

The 1m2f maiden (3.00) is a stamina test for juveniles and Cannon Rock should run well for Appleby and Buick. Midnight Lion is next best.

Castle Way rates a banker for the Appleby and Buick team in the 1m2f nursery (3.35) and Don't Tell Claire is one of my bets of the day in the fillies' handicap (4.10) over a mile. It's also worth putting in likely favourite Queenlet in the same race.
