Newcastle Placepot tips: Billhilly rated a banker in 16-line perm
Winterwatch was probably not even qualified for a Racing League race when he was registered by Andrew Balding, so it could well have been the plan to aim him for a race on the final day and he looks banker material for the opening leg (6.05) of the Newcastle Placepot.
He only got off the mark in maiden company in July, but then scored on his handicap debut a month later at Lingfield when he probably would have scored more easily had he not gone for home so soon. A 3lb rise looks likely to prove generous.
In the next (6.35), Ace Rothstein is clearly the best-handicapped in the race, but in case he bounces I will also add Painless Potter, who ran well in an earlier leg at Lingfield.
Fox Premier has his second racing league outing following an eyecatching fourth after a break at Windsor three weeks ago and must be included in the next (7.05), along with Racing League debutant Sevenal for John & Thady Gosden.
There is no looking past Billhilly in the fourth leg (7.35) as he is on a four-timer – including a Racing League hat-trick – and is 6lb well in under his penalty after a runaway success at Lingfield last time.
Typhoon Ten is another Racing League hat-trick-seeker in the next (8.05) who cannot be left out under a penalty. He goes in with Ivatheengine, who is nicely weighted with Strike Red following their clash here in July and will love the likely fast pace.
That leaves another competitive finale (8.35), in which Saluti and Faustus, first and second in the opening race of the series here five weeks ago, are the picks.
