Newbury Placepot picks: exciting pair look solid in Paul Kealy's Thursday perm

With small fields dominating, there's no perfect Placepot meeting, but we'll stick with Newbury for the perm.

won here last year on his second start for Paul Nicholls and the second and third are now rated 125 over fences and 128 over hurdles, so he could be well treated off 116 in the 12.20.

He disappointed next time, but is likely to have improved for the summer off. , progressive enough in three outings for Alastair Ralph last seasons, is another who looks fairly treated.

In the next, should prove hard to beat. He hasn't beaten much in three starts for Nicky Henderson, but has done so in fine style and has been described as a massive talent by the trainer.

All three runners have a shot in the novice chase (1.30) and I don't want to pick and choose, so we'll move swiftly on to the next (2.00), which should be won by Champion Bumper third .

and are confident selections in the Pertemps qualifier (2.30), which just leaves the closing handicap chase (3.05).

is the main fancy if he jumps, but it makes sense to add a runner with some experience and , who can go well fresh and is a course winner over hurdles, fits the bill.
