Newbury hotpot must defy stats to win
Kinross
2.50 Newbury
SP forecast 5-4
Looked potentially top class when scoring by eight lengths on his Newmarket debut this month, earning a Racing Post Rating of 101 and exciting the clock-watchers. The runner-up won easily next time, so substance to go with the style. On the downside this race is rarely won by a once-raced maiden winner (last year’s well beaten favourite had also scored by eight lengths on his debut) and trainer Ralph Beckett is only 1-9 when upping two-year-olds into Group company after one run. He is in fantastic form though.
Conclusion Can’t get excited about backing anything at short odds on such desperate ground.
