It was a vintage Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup last week and the visual impression was backed up by the clock, with Native River (167) earning the highest Topspeed rating of the whole meeting.

Richard Johnson gave a masterclass in front-running riding aboard the ultra-game winner, taking the bull by the horns throughout.

Shadowed by Might Bite (162) with the pursuing pack never realistically in the hunt, Native River went fast enough to get the rest out of their comfort zone but still had enough at the finish to maintain the upper hand.
