Nap of the day: best horse racing tips from the day's six meetings

Selections from Doncaster, Kelso, Lingfield, Navan, Newbury and Southwell

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Doncaster

2.20: Miss Fairfax

Get A Tonic has a clear chance on the figures but her stamina for today's trip is not copper-bottomed and most of her rivals have significant potential. The suggestion is Miss Fairfax (nap), who was comfortably too strong for subsequent winner Eureka Creek at Exeter in January and drew a long way clear of a previous winner at Catterick last month. So Said I and Gazette Bourgeoise bring good handicap form back into novice company, while Holly Hartingo is another to consider.
Chris Wilson

Kelso

3.43: Hardy Du Seuil

Topweight Hardy Du Seuil (nap) ran well when runner-up in a Grade 2 at Haydock last time and can go one better now he's back in a handicap. Gold Des Bois has been admirably consistent since joining Iain Jardine and is second choice ahead of the hat-trick-seeking Heartbreak Kid.
Ben Hutton

Lingfield

2.34: Obsidian Knight

Marion's Boy continues on the up and ought to go well once more but the two last-time-out winners Red Flyer and Obsidian Knight (nap) appeal most. Preference is for Obsidian Knight, who showed a tactical event over course-and-distance held no terrors when producing some good closing sectionals in a novice event four weeks ago. This opening mark should underestimate him.
Paul Smith

Navan

2.48: Sparkling Stars

Giant grey Sparkling Stars (nap) confirmed himself a grand addition to the Richard O'Brien yard when winning easily at Naas. The 8lb rise is more than fair and he can go in again. Gain De Cuase is bidding for three in a row while Chosen Diamond has each-way claims at the opposite end of the handicap.
Brian Sheerin

Newbury

2.27: Punctuation

The handicapper has punished Punctuation (nap) for his win at Warwick but that may well not stop him, so stylish was the way in which he justified the support on that first run for Fergal O'Brien. Mark Of Gold has been in another class to his rivals on his last two starts and is next on the list, although a Nicholls-trained juvenile competing off the sort of mark which Irish Hill has got must also be feared.
Richard Austen

Southwell

5.00: Back From Dubai

Distinction is feared after beating all bar an in-form rival last week but there must be a good chance that Back From Dubai (nap) can make it five on the spin here. Peruvian Summer is dangerous when fresh and is by no means discounted.
