Nap of the day: best horse racing tips from the day's eight meetings
Saturday tips for Haydock, Listowel, Newmarket, Curragh, Chester and more
Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Chelmsford
8.30: La Roca Del Fuego
The way in which La Roca Del Fuego (nap) cruised along out in front over 6f here last time suggests he should be fine at this shorter trip and he is selected to defy the handicapper again and make it 4-4 at this track in 2021. Toplight is another who arrives in top form and he can follow him home.
Andrew Sheret
Chester
5.25: Auriferous
With his rivals either out of form or difficult to win with, this looks an excellent opportunity for Auriferous (nap). He may still be a maiden but has run a number of good races in stronger company and he returns to the trip of his career-best performance when second at Haydock in July. Fire Eyes left George Boughey after just four runs and might not be that well handicapped, so second choice is Fandabidozi.
Alistair Jones
Curragh
2.30: Swan Bay
The Aidan O'Brien yard has won the last 10 runnings of this event and it has a strong contender again in the exciting Killarney winner Luxembourg. However, the father could be usurped by the son, as Joseph O'Brien's Swan Bay (nap) was impressive in winning at Galway last time and may shade it.
Tyrone Molloy
Haydock
3.15: Mount Mogan
It's tempting to stick with Call Me Ginger, still on a roll after his Ayr Bronze Cup success, but he has to give 11lb to Mount Mogan (nap), who might have turned a corner with his clearcut Kempton win three weeks ago. Never Dark, beaten less than a length in the Bronze Cup, should be in the mix again and is third choice.
Richard O'Brien
Listowel
2.15: Good Time Jonny
Good Time Jonny (nap) can finally provide his stable with an overdue jumps winner this term but this is a cracking handicap, with Walking Fame and Groveman lurking.
Johnny Ward
Market Rasen
4.30: Pawpaw
This is a rise in class for low-mileage four-year-old Pawpaw (nap) but he went down fighting on his handicap debut in May and, after a satisfactory reappearance run this month, he might well be up to the task. Aintree festival winner Rowland Ward can improve again this season and is second choice ahead of Scarlet Dragon, won landed this price in 2019. Hang In There, Valentino Dancer and Ingleby Hollow all ran well over course-and-distance in the Summer Hurdle.
Chris Wilson
Newmarket
3.40: Astro King
The vote goes to Astro King (nap), who has been threatening to win a big prize and shapes as if this first attempt at 1m1f will enable him to do so. Second choice is Magical Morning, who ties in closely with the selection on York form last month. Magical Morning's stablemate Uncle Bryn is another obvious player, as the market suggests, while Chichester and Anmaat are ahead of the assessor and worthy of major respect. Long Tradition is unexposed and interesting, while several others also have possibilities in a typically red-hot Cambridgeshire.
Steve Boow
Ripon
4.05: Justanotherbottle
Regional looked a bargain buy when making all at Haydock on his stable debut and he could still have more to come. Several of these are closely matched on their Great St Wilfrid run and it may well be that the talented Justanotherbottle (nap) can confirm his superiority with the blinkers looking to have made a difference. Intrinsic Bond may provide the stiffest resistance.
