Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for Wednesday's five meetings

Selections from Catterick, Gowran Park, Lingfield, Newcastle and Nottingham

Wednesday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Catterick

1.45: Harrogate

This could be a good opportunity for speedy front-runner Harrogate (nap), who didn't quite see out the stiff 5f at Newcastle when fifth on his first two stable starts but might be hard to catch on this easier track. Alsvinder was second on Polytrack recently and competes off a much lower turf mark here. Ustath also returns to turf on a good mark and is another to consider.
Chris Wilson

Gowran Park

6.00: Ubuntu

The 95-rated Ubuntu (nap) sets the standard having reversed the form of her debut with Rosscarbery when third in a Group 3 event at the Curragh last August. The Ballydoyle-trained Frill is open to improvement from an initial run, a remark that also applies to Cosa Sara and Parkhill Dawn, representing Dermot Weld and Jim Bolger respectively.

Lingfield

4.35: Rainbow Mirage

A typically competitive Class 6 handicap to close the card. With 7f around here promising to suit better than when showing good form for the grade over 6f last time, Rainbow Mirage (nap) is the call. Soyounique, if settling, Axel Jacklin, if assuming a good early sit from stall nine, and Pure Purfection can battle it out for minor honours.
Andrew Cooper

Newcastle

6.45: Forest Falcon

Aerion Power is surely capable of bettering his authoritative 7f Class 4 Wolverhampton win. However, assuming that he takes the switch to the all-weather in his stride and is none the worse for a fine effort in the Class 2 Royal Mile Handicap at Musselburgh on Saturday, Mark Johnston's well-treated Forest Falcon (nap) sets a particularly high benchmark.
Mark Rowntree

Nottingham

3.40: Muker

Having shown progressive form as a two-year-old, Muker (nap) looks a good 5f prospect for Phillip Makin this year. He gets the vote over Ben Macdui, who is interesting back on forecast better ground. Burning Cash is another major player on ratings and a couple of the others are still unexposed.
