Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Ayr

3.35: Chef D'Oeuvre

Mighty Thunder looks the most solid option but, as in the Midlands National last time out, might just prove vulnerable to an opponent revealing the depths of its stamina for the first time. An awful lot of these are not proven beyond 3m2f and Nicky Richards fields two of the most interesting from that group in Chapel Stile and Chidswell. Preference, however, is for Chef D'Oeuvre who has done more to suggest he could be an out-and-out stayer, including when a close third in the 2019 Grand National Trial at Haydock on good ground, and looks to be coming to himself again at the right time judged on last month's win at Haydock. Sam's Adventure is a proven stayer but in the mud, so the chief opposition to the selection may come from Chapel Stile and Mighty Thunder.

Newbury

3.20: Matthew Flinders

As ever, a highly competitive handicap with several capable of improving on what they have shown so far. Matthew Flinders has had only one go at 1m on good ground, at Doncaster in September, when he went past his rivals in a few quick strides and there must be a good chance he can improve on that now he is returned to this trip. Troll Peninsula could be hiding a Group-race light under a bushel in his first handicap and he is as interesting as any, though C&D winner Johan also makes some appeal, along with Danyah who did well to keep on for fourth in the Lincoln after racing too freely. Nugget can also be involved, along with Raaeq though he is held by the selection on their Sandown form.

Stratford

1.57: Rob The Getaway

Prince Llywelyn hasn't lived up to his bumper form over obstacles but he ran creditably last time (behind one who has since followed up) and has to be respected. Starjac could prove a different proposition with his reappearance behind him but Rob The Getaway has been knocking at the door in handicap chases and he's still low mileage under rules.
Paul Smith

Wincanton

1.40: Grain De Thaix

The one with most potential is Grain De Thaix, who is unexposed after only six career starts and seemed to be getting his act together when third at Huntingdon last month. The other five-year-old Arizona Glory is still a maiden after 14 starts but earns good marks for his consistency this season and is feared most. Valseur Du Granval is nothing like the force of old but his latest run offered hope he might be ready to capitalise upon some considerable help from the handicapper.
Chris Wilson

Tramore

4.20: Western Boy

An open contest and not a bad one for the grade. Jack Holiday is interesting with track and ground to suit if fit enough after a six-month break. Espion Du Chenet has a chance of adding to his two wins this season if things fall right for him, while the ground is a plus for Crimson Chief. The one to beat is Western Boy, back in form this season and looked quite unlucky when unseating two out at Clonmel last month.
Justin O'Hanlon

Dundalk

1.45: Getaway Queen

Joey Sheridan's 5lb claim may tilt the balance in favour of Getaway Queen, a dual course and distance winner and a recent a handicap hurdle scorer at Wexford. Port Lockroy, from the in-form Joseph O'Brien stable, rates a danger, Indignation, with blinkers and tongue-tie added, may find the improvement required to reverse previous form with Fallen Forest and Kalanoura.
