Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings
Selections from Ayr, Newcastle, Yarmouth, Pontefract, Chelmsford and Naas
Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Ayr
5.20: Timbukone
Having filled the runner-up spot behind subsequent scorers in two runs since wearing a visor, Timbukone could well go one better off an unaltered mark and open his account. Global Humor, Monhammer and Emerald Lady may prove the biggest dangers, in that order.
Steve Boow
Chelmsford
7.00: City Walk
A good sprint in which most of the nine runners can have a solid case argued. Dubai Station and Apollo One (second choice) come into it on their C&D runs in May, while Tolstoy is better than he showed on his stable debut and May Sonic could have been freshened up by a break. City Walk failed to fire on turf last time but his two AW runs this season have seen him produce very smart efforts and he could well have more to give on this surface. He can take another step up the sprinting ladder today.
Paul Smith
Naas
3.10 Miami Girl
British stables dominated the valuable sales race at the Curragh on Sunday, and it could be the same story now. If reproducing the form of her Queen Mary fifth Miami Girl should be too good for the likes of Felix Natalis, Minnesota Lad and Signora Camacho. Polar Bear
probably offers the best chance of a home win, though Not Forgotten looked potentially useful in a recent barrier trial at Dundalk.
Alan Sweetman
Newcastle
6.15: Tregony
A few come into this in good form, such as the unexposed White Willow and the hat-trick seeker Eeetee. Both could go well, but despite a 3lb higher mark it's hard to oppose Tregony given that she's 2-2 over C&D and 3-3 under Saffie Osborne. Geremia, who chased her home here last time, may again pose the main threat provided he doesn't lose too much ground at the start. Fearless Bay, who is 3-3 on the AW, is another to consider.
David Bellingham
Pontefract
4.02: Commandment
It's hard to knock Another Romance, who has proved tough and consistent all year, but she's up 9lb for her Salisbury win and isn't at all sure to beat runner-up Al Simmo on these revised terms. The latter may pose the main threat to Commandment who seems to come alive at Pontefract and will surely go very well if repeating the form of her third over C&D at the start of August. Run This Way, another who has shown a liking for the track, would be helped by rain.
Richard O'Brien
Yarmouth
5.35: Maokai
Kardinya is of strong interest on his debut for Michael Appleby, while Making Music and Kenilworth King will be dangerous if able to replicate their recent AW form here. However, Maokai was nicely in command in the closing stages of last month's handicap debut at Chepstow and could still be well treated after a 5lb rise.
