Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Chelmsford

5.10: John Betjeman

Ali Stronge holds a decent hand by way of Estrela Star and Yorktown but both have become expensive to follow and hard to win with. Gyenyame is low mileage and one to consider but this is the first time dual hurdles winner John Betjeman(nap) has gone beyond 1m3f on the Flat and he looks the way to go off a career-low mark.
Graham Wheldon

Chepstow

6.10: Some Nightmare

The absence asks a question of Ruby Cottage and Sweet Pursuit, and the likely good to firm ground places Vape further up the pecking order than course regular Tawaafoq. All, however, are likely to be playing for places behind Some Nightmare(nap), himself twice successful over course and distance during a highly productive 2021 and still improving if an arguably unlucky second in a better 0-70 last time is an accurate guide.
Jeremy Grayson

Lingfield

2.00: Covert Mission

Connections will be hoping that blinkers and a tongue-tie have a positive effect on the one-time smart prospect Seventh Kingdom as he has tumbled down the weights having shown very little this year. Chief Of Staff (second choice) could go well after a break and in new headgear, while Prince Rock is reliable around here and arrives in good order. Covert Mission(nap) has plenty in his favour though and he may be able to register his third win of the year.
Paul Smith

Musselburgh

4.00: Colinton

The vote goes to last week's Catterick winner Colinton(nap), who remains unbeaten at about 1m4f and may not have stopped progressing yet. Solid rival Can Can Girl is feared most, ahead of El Picador who remains of interest judged on his penultimate effort.
Steve Boow

Punchestown

7.10: Minx Tiara

The manner of her victory at Limerick was very striking, particularly the relish with which she attacked her fences, and Minx Tiara (nap) can defy an 8lb hike in her rating. Deja Vu will likely provide competition for the lead and is a danger while Hurricane Georgie, who will enjoy this trip and ground, almost sprang a surprise on her comeback run at Fairyhouse and should be all the better for that outing.
Mark Nunan

Redcar

2.10: Pub Crawl

Quite a few of these are open to improvement now going up in distance. Top of the list is Pub Crawl(nap), who stayed on strongly for second over 8.5f at Epsom last Tuesday. Handicap newcomer Oliver's Army also has potential at this longer trip and is feared most. Viadelamore has to be respected with trainer James Ferguson in fantastic form, and Rollajam is another to consider.
Ben Hutton
