Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Our Friday fancies from Brighton, Carlisle, Fairyhouse, Haydock and more

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Brighton

5.30: Carbon Positive

The return to this trip may result in a better effort from Thomas Daniell, while Split Elevens would have a chance of transferring his all-weather form back to turf. However, this looks a good opportunity for Carbon Positive (nap) whose fourth on his handicap debut at Nottingham last month has been advertised by the subsequent successes of the third and fifth horses. He should be hard to beat if repeating anything like that form.
David Bellingham

Carlisle

2.40: Shepherds Way

Recent winners Brazen Belle and especially Soapys Sister should make their presence felt again but the one to beat is Shepherds Way (nap), who progressed well during her three-year-old campaign, winning twice on soft ground, and made a pleasing reappearance at Thirsk.
Richard O'Brien

Fairyhouse

5.05: The Blue Brilliant

Some nice prospects in here, notably Ulster Blackwater who shaped with plenty of promise on debut and Rosscarbery, who should relish this longer trip. However, The Blue Brilliant (nap) sets a decent standard with the form of last month's second at Naas boosted since and she's open to progress herself.

Haydock

7.20: Al Saariyah

Preference is for Al Saariyah (nap), who still looks well treated on her novice form and is open to further progress going beyond 6f for the first time. The solid Highfield Princess is second choice. Conservatoire commands respect, especially if the ground doesn't dry out, and the other two runners also can't be dismissed.
Steve Boow

Pontefract

7.45: Cormier

Chairman Power isn't one to give up on just yet but he does have a bit to prove on the easiest ground he's tackled to date and the one that appeals most is Cormier (nap), who has developed into a useful hurdler since his last Flat start. He has no ground or trip issues and he should be spot on after a creditable second placing in the Swinton Hurdle last time. Sudona and Sociologist are others to consider.
Richard Young

Stratford

5.45: Virak

This can go to Virak (nap), who is getting rather long in the tooth now but has won all four races since finishing second in this event two years ago, and looked in rude health when returning from a long absence in a recent point. Deans Road is feared most, ahead of Barney Dwan.
Chris Wilson

Yarmouth

4.10: Aria Rose

Most of these have something to prove and the one that stands out is Aria Rose (nap), who recorded his fourth win this year when scoring in good style here last week and is a major player again under a penalty on this drop back to 1m2f. Maykir and Selecto are feared most in that order, though another to keep an eye on is Mahanakhon Power, who is well treated if he can turn things around on this big drop back in trip.
