Ascot
4.25: Boundless Power
A few of these are giving signs of being over the top but Mick Appleby's pair Boundless Power(nap) and Danzeno continue in splendid form. The former was just unfortunate to run up against a talented rival on the day things finally fell into place in the Portland and is taken to gain some compensation here. The indefatigable Danzeno could easily give the yard a 1-2, ahead of Count D'Orsay, but Pendleton, who won this in 2019, has been running flat since his good form in early summer.
Emily Weber
Chester
3.40: Flying West
If Gometra Ginty were to be left in front again she could add to an already successful season, but soft/heavy ground would be a concern so preference is for Flying West(nap). She loves soft ground and found only a bang-in-form rival just too strong at Sandown last time. Handicap debutante Rani Of Jhansi remains open to improvement and could give her most to do.
David Bellingham
Fontwell
5.40: Marracudja
Dan Skelton's 10yo Marracudja(nap) regressed last season but has conditions to suit on today's reappearance outing and is well handicapped on form as recent as the spring. This race looks less competitive than the races he's used to contesting and could be a good opportunity for him. Darebin has become very unreliable, while today's ground may be softer than ideal for both Carolines Charm and Fairway Freddy, so French chase winner Itacare may turn out to be the main danger to the selection.
Chris Wilson
Gowran Park
3.55: O Connell Street
A 3lb rise for O Connell Street (nap)'s win at Perth last week looks lenient and he's taken to make it three wins from his last four starts here. Cerberus could be the main danger stepping back up in trip and Optical Confusion is another to consider having returned to form last time out.
Phill Anderson
Killarney
3.45: Siofra
The headgear situation with Siofra (nap) is a bit of a concern but she was very eye-catching at Galway and looks another likely Harrington improver. Moreover, few of these appeals. Wonder Spirit should win races, albeit he's been off over a year. Sea Sessions should give it a good go.
Johnny Ward
Longchamp
2.15: Princess Zoe
Great stayer Stradivarius sets the standard but the forecast soft ground is a concern, so it looks best to concentrate on Trueshan and last year's winner Princess Zoe(nap). Trueshan has his ground and potential over this marathon trip if settling, but Princess Zoe has been there and done it with a slog in this race, which again seems on the cards with Alkuin, who nearly pulled off an all-the-way win last year, in the field.
Mark Brown
Newmarket
2.20: Fearby
The key horse is Fearby (nap), whose form is a level, and in most cases several levels, superior to anything else that's been recorded in this field. He's versatile ground-wise and should be hard to beat. The unbeaten Tatsumaki is unraced on slow ground but is feared most, followed by Stubble Field, Ernie's Valentine, Bond Power and Piffle.
Alistair Jones
Redcar
3.35: Vintage Clarets
The strongest option is Vintage Clarets(nap), who has the best chance at the weights and whose trainer has won this race twice in recent years. Chipotle looks the biggest threat on these terms, while Symphony Perfect, Roman Dragon and Anadora are other suggestions for the shortlist, in that order of preference.
Steve Boow
Wolverhampton
7.00: Nelson Gay
This race has been dominated by 3yos, with five winners in its six renewals, despite only 19 of the 68 runners coming from the age bracket, and Nelson Gay(nap) is fancied to add to the tally after a solid effort without the usual headgear last time. El Hombre likes it here but has become hard to win with and may need this after a break.
