Preference is for Matt Crawley's Three Dragons, who returned from a long absence with a stylish win at Wolverhampton and is a major player again if he can back that up off only 3lb higher here. Second choice is six-time Polytrack winner Capricorn Prince, who ran into plenty of trouble at Lingfield last time and could bounce back with a big run on his drop back in trip. Dual C&D winner Estrela Star could be dangerous if this sets up for his closing style, while another to consider is Red Derek.

Uther Pendragon bids to rattle off his third win in seven days and he holds solid claims. Miss Elsa ran well after a break at Lingfield three weeks ago and can go well but Ummsuqauiam appeared to relish the step up to middle distances at Lingfield last time and she still looks very well handicapped despite a 3lb rise.

Teddy Blue kicked off his handicap career with a creditable third in a higher grade at Newbury and he's respected for a yard that won this last year. Hacker Des Places has form figures of 1312 in his last four handicaps and he's open to more progress, while five-time hurdle winner Camprond looks interesting on his switch back to this sphere. However, the vote goes to C&D winner Metier, who has a record of 4-8 over hurdles and returned to the Flat with a brave win in the November Handicap seven weeks ago.

1.40: Harmonya Maker

Having routed a couple of useful rivals on her hurdling debut at Fairyhouse, Harmonya Maker can take the next step up the ladder. Stablemate Deeply Superficial is held by the selection on collateral form but is a promising mare in her own right as is Cork winner La Malmaison, while the step up in trip may suit Saylavee.
