Gary Moore won this 12 months ago and must have high hopes of winning it again with Tara Iti or Mark Of Gold, both of whom have better days ahead of them. The selection will feel let loose off his low weight and he gets the nod. Glimpse Of Gold and Sergeant come here in top form, Illico Des Places has potential for his excellent new trainer and the returning Overpriced Mixer would very much enter the reckoning if the ground remains good.

Judged on a combination of her sprinting form and her pedigree, there appears to be a race of this nature in Spear Fir who is duly taken to get off the mark. Second choice is interesting handicap debutante Close Quarters, ahead of recent Leicester winner Special Mayson, class-dropper Shark Two One and in-form veteran Magical Effect.

3.00: Andaleep

An interesting handicap may be fought out by last week's C&D winners Wisper and Andaleep. The former recorded a quicker time in victory seven days ago but the manner of Andaleep's win, where he quickly settled matters on the run to the furlong marker, offered encouragement that his fine year could get even better.

Top of the list is the Ian Williams-trained Alwajd, who made it 2-4 in cheekpieces when scoring in cosy fashion at Chelmsford last month. Lethal Touch was a clear second behind the selection in that race and he's feared most, ahead of He's So Brazen, who is still lightly raced and looks interesting if he can build on his runner-up effort here two weeks ago. Others with each-way claims are Quoteline Direct and Defilade.
