Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's four meetings
Best bets from Haydock, Lingfield, Kempton and Dundalk
Wednesday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Dundalk
2.40: Trent
Having run Morning Soldier close on debut and posted another solid run since then, Trent should just about be able to reverse those placings on 5lb better terms. Atlantic Island shouldn't be underestimated, while Doitforandrew has a bit to do on ratings with the selection. Fortune Maker is most interesting of the newcomers.
Tyrone Molloy
Haydock
2.50: Lake View Lad
A few of these veterans have been given a chance by the handicapper, particularly Blaklion who has shown hints of spark the last twice, but this could be between the Nick Alexander-trained pair. Lake View Lad is the pick off a mark 5lb lower than when a creditable seventh in April's Scottish National, and he's won on two of his last three reappearances. Stablemate Up Helly Aa King showed career-best form earlier this year and is capable of building on his fair reappearance fourth at Kelso.
Ben Hutton
Kempton
7.00: English Spirit
There is a lot to like about the way English Spirit is progressing and the step back up to 1m should do the trick. He caught the eye when finishing strongly over 7f at this track last time and might be improving too quickly for these rivals. Lucayan won well over 7f here last time and rates the biggest danger. Rania
might prove best of the rest.
Graeme Rodway
Lingfield
11.50: Covert Mission
George Boughey's Desert Lime has obvious scope to improve now handicapping, but a much bigger run from Covert Mission is on the cards. He was purchased for 36,000gns in July and simply did too much too soon from a particularly wide draw when starting out for new connections at Chelmsford last month. Rainbow Mirage will be dangerous if they go hard enough.
