Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Selections from Huntingdon, Newcastle, Sedgefield, Southwell and Thurles

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Huntingdon

3.55: Dorking Lad

Topweight Dorking Lad(nap) has been in good form since these cheekpieces went on and he can follow up last month's win at Wincanton. Course specialist Lord Sparky is second choice, although cases can also be made for Honorary Colonel and recent C&D winner Lots Of Luck.
Ben Hutton

Newcastle

5.30: Vindobala

A few runners of interest, notably the returning Saisons D'Or and the unexposed Clear Angel, but with a good pace looking likely, this can be the day for Vindobala(nap) to show her true colours. She has been expensive to follow since her C&D win in December but she still appeals as being ahead of her mark. Abnaa is another who could find this being run to suit and he's a respected danger.
Paul Smith

Sedgefield

2.55: Martha Willow

Given his current vein of form, Demi Sang has to be considered despite his rise in the weights. He is rated the main danger to handicap debutante Martha Willow(nap), a dual bumper winner who has done enough on her two starts over hurdles to suggest she can make an impact off this sort of mark now she is upped in trip. Others likely to get involved include Twoshotsoftequila and Hajey.
Keith McHugh

Southwell

3.12: Tipperary Tiger

Karl Burke appears to hold a strong hand here. Shallow Hal is competing in a lower grade than usual but preference is for stablemate Tipperary Tiger(nap) who comes into this 2-2 over C&D and was only just denied at Chelmsford last time. Patsy Fagan is also 2-2 over C&D and holds solid claims despite the rise in grade.
David Bellingham

Thurles

3.05: Johngus

Johngus (nap) was well punted when third at Gowran Park and, stepping up a mile in trip here, he should go well. Exciting Oscar and Four Country Roads chased home well-handicapped sorts on their last start respectively and could also be involved.
