Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings
Monday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Pontefract
1.55: Reward Smile
Ground this soft will be a first for most of these. The Ayr handicap in which Reward Smile was just ahead of Braveheart Boy looks strong form and it could hold the key to this. Sassy Belle has shaped well in her three runs and she's next best.
Alistair Jones
Stratford
3.55: Dream In The Park
Emma Lavelle's Dream In The Park was second to a useful rival on his bumper debut last autumn and the form of his subsequent Ascot second also reads very well. He began his hurdling career with two encouraging runs at the start of this year and, if the bumper form is a guide, could be on a very lenient opening handicap mark. Benandgone ran well in defeat on his handicap debut in the spring and is second choice, ahead of course winner Reams Of Love.
Chris Wilson
Tipperary
2.55: Balkito
Balkito's stable is in such form that his layoff is little concern and all going well he should win this. Rebellious Gale ought to run well.
Johnny Ward
Windsor
3.12: Wahraan
With his belated reappearance under his belt, Wahraan could well resume the progress that he showed during most of his 2021 campaign. He is the selection ahead of Surrey Mist, who has clear possibilities back down in grade on his debut for a new stable. Hamaki remains of interest, while Knight Of Honour and Bad Company are also in the mix.
Steve Boow
Wolverhampton
4.46: Showman
Several of these arrive with questions to answer so this looks an excellent opportunity for Showman to build on his Kempton second and gain a breakthrough win. Arab Cinder has made a solid start with William Knight and is feared most in his own bid for a maiden success while Rochebrune is also weighted to have a say and appeals as the pick of the remainder.
