Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Chelmsford

6.30: May Sonic

An interesting sprint handicap in which the market may be even more relevant than usual, especially with regard to Soldier's Minute on his return from 216 days off and Ventura Tormenta, who returns from 784 days off having shown some high-class form as a two-year-old. French import See You Boy is respected on his debut for Marco Botti, but the vote goes to dual course-and-distance winner May Sonic who has dropped 4lb lower than when last successful.
David Bellingham

Clonmel

3.23: Womalko

Some of these command attention on their hurdling exploits and especially Womalko, who finds himself rated 21lb lower in this discipline. That's for a reason, but this is his first handicap as a chaser and the switch to Gordon Elliott naturally heightens interest. Kingston Kid is another who may have more to offer in this discipline but the dangers are probably Early Arrival and admirable veteran Capture The Drama.
Alistair Jones

Market Rasen

3.05: Bridge North

Henry Daly won this race in 2019 and might have the answer to it again in the shape of Bridge North, who made quite an encouraging return to action at Aintree last month and ought to benefit from the step back up in distance. This trip is a maximum for Stoner's Choice but he might get it around here and is on a workable mark back hurdling so he may fill the forecast spot ahead of Pounding Poet. Andrew Sheret

Newcastle

1.38: Faitque De L'Isle

Herefordshire trainer Michael Scudamore has a good record at Newcastle and the unexposed chaser Faitque De L'Isle can follow up last month's win at Ffos Las. Quiet Flow has shown promise at Sedgefield the last twice and is second choice, with Ballintogher Boy and Well Cliche others who could run well. Catlin needs a return to form but it's interesting she's 2-2 at Newcastle.
Ben Hutton

Wincanton

2.40: Don Alvaro

It is difficult to look beyond Don Alvaro, despite the 12lb rise, after his recent emphatic course-and-distance victory. Furkash has found the fences in his way at times but a clear round would make him a serious danger.
Jonathan Neesom
