Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Clonmel

4.21: Plains Indian

This could be a good opportunity for Plains Indian who was only narrowly denied in a career best effort here last time and he can go one better. The main danger could be Whatsavailable if he handles this testing ground. Rebel Rascal and Not So Proper are two interesting newcomers to keep an eye on in the market.
Phill Anderson

Ludlow

2.00: Karl Philippe

Topweight Karl Philippe won in pleasing fashion over C&D last time out in January and can continue his progressive ways with another victory today. Barbados Blue was pulled up at Huntingdon last time but is feared most on account of her solid previous form.
Ben Hutton

Newcastle

3.16: Prejudice

Society Red is in excellent form and has to be feared but he's conceding weight to some interesting rivals, notably Prejudice, who almost beat Audarya in a handicap here two seasons ago and is now 3lb lower in the weights. Market confidence behind Silver Gunn and/or Pride Of America should be heeded.
Steve Boow

Southwell

8.00: Maharashtra

This looks the right opportunity for Maharashtra to register his fourth win at Southwell since December. Morlaix is also in good form and he looks the chief danger, ahead of Hector's Here and Let Her Loose.
Richard Austen

Taunton

2.38: Groom D'Oudairies

Don Alvaro will be a tough nut to crack if suited by today's drop back in trip but Groom D'Oudairies is 6lb well in after going close on his recent handicap debut at Ludlow and can open his account today. Christian Williams' 6yo looked sure to win that race when still travelling strongly after the final flight but was just collared in the closing stages as his rival rallied.
