Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's eight meetings

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Bellewstown

7.40: Hereditary Rule

This looks competitive. Former course Flat winner April's Joy could be the best of the Cromwell quartet but it could be another local trainer, John McConnell, who holds sway here courtesy of Hereditary Rule. He is rated much lower over hurdles than fences and can score. Ballycastle Girl and Yenillik can run well.
Tyrone Molloy

Beverley

3.28: Rambuso Creek

Top of the list is Kevin Ryan's lightly raced three-year-old Rambuso Creek, who justified favouritism in good style on his handicap debut at Thirsk two weeks ago and is open to further progress. Ventura Express looks the pick of Paul Midgley's three runners and he's feared most on his drop back in trip, though Ginger Jam also looks interesting on his return to five furlongs. The other one on the shortlist is Lost My Sock, who won at Ripon in May and was a good second behind the selection last time.
David Moon

Carlisle

8.20: Global Spirit

Dianne Sayer saddles two tough course regulars in Detective and Jackhammer and both have plenty to recommend them. Strongbowe and Arranmore lurk on dangerous marks but Global Spirit ran creditably in a stronger race here ten days ago and may not face much competition for the early lead.
Paul Smith

Haydock

4.25: Young Fire

Last year's winner Young Fire can repeat the dose, following a most promising reappearance. Titan Rock shaped well just behind him in that York race and is feared most but he has much more to prove than the selection if the ground is softer than good. Boardman underperformed in that same York contest but is shortlisted nonetheless, so strongly had he been going earlier in the season. Fools Rush In has a good record at Haydock, so a return to prominence for him would not be a shock. Tacarib Bay was 12th in the 2,000 Guineas two months ago.

Leicester

5.00: Divine Magic

It's been a solid start to the season from Divine Magic and the benefit of Benoit De La Sayette's claim can get her over the line. Wild Lion needs respecting as a likely improver, but Outrun The Storm might prove most troublesome and Persuasion could be running into form again.
Alistair Jones

Naas

5.25: Lemon Ice

A fascinating handicap and appealing for punters with 16 runners, one of them Lemon Ice, a speculative pick but fascinating. Theonewedreamedof has an edge over Rock On Candy and claims. Danfango is noted.
Johnny Ward

Nottingham

8.30: God Of Thunder

He needs to prove he's effective on turf but God Of Thunder bumped into a very progressive rival when second on last month's handicap debut at Lingfield and is probably still on a good mark after a 4lb rise. Apache Grey also ran well on his handicap debut and is second choice, while At Liberty scores good marks for his consistency this year and may benefit from today's slight drop back in trip.
Chris Wilson

Sandown

3.00: Heredia

As an improving and unbeaten filly who has the best chance on ratings, Heredia is hard to oppose. Her biggest threats (in order of preference) may be Fast Attack, who ties in closely with the selection on one piece of two-year-old form, and Grande Dame, who is open to further progress back down in class.
