Musselburgh Placepot picks: Tom Segal with three bankers on classy card

There are plenty of classy horses running at Musselburgh and if there is a Cheltenham winner on show it could well be Brorson, who runs in the Pertemps Qualifier (2.40).

He has taken his form to a new level over three miles and is a very strong stayer. Throw in The Big Galloper as well in that race as I doubt Charles Byrnes is bringing him over for the Scottish air.

Recent course winner Inca Prince might be hard to catch again in the bet365 Scottish Triumph Hurdle (1.32), but Impulsive One was only just behind Grade 1 winner Porticello on his last hurdle start and will enjoy the ground.

The final race to have the safety net of two selections is the bet365 Scottish Champion Handicap Chase (3.15). Brorson's trainer Martin Keighley has another good chance with Sarasota Star, who is consistent, while Lucky Flight was going well when unseating two out at Kelso last time.

In order to make the perm manageable it could be worth banking in the other races. Rafferty was impressive in a first-time tongue-tie last time and should prove hard to beat in the opening handicap chase (1.00), while Magna Sam left his previous form well behind over course and distance last time. He should win the bet365 Handicap Chase (3.50) if he's in the same form.

Finally, Kihavah ran a lot better than his finishing position would suggest in a handicap at Cheltenham last time and can bounce back in the Scottish Supreme Novices' Hurdle (2.05).
