At the end of a day of incessant rain, the ground was testing for this group of inexperienced horses and it looked a race likely to produce a winner or two.

It was won by the very smart Delvino, but this mare raced from off the pace, travelled well – possibly even too keenly – but she made up ground to be on the heels of the leaders on the descent to the closing stages before her effort just ran out of steam inside the last furlong.
