Remarkable stayer who is unbeaten in ten starts since finishing third in this race in 2017 and has bagged two £1m bonuses. Was not at his best when winning this on soft last year (worst RPR in those ten starts) but the switch to the inner track means conditions are unlikely to be as testing this time. Doesn’t tend to put up huge performances on the figures, but always gets the job done.

Conclusion Would have been opposable on usual track, but not now.
