Golden Sunrise
Third, 2m5½f novice hurdle, Exeter, Tuesday, November 7
This race lacked strength in depth compared to recent years, but I was taken by Colin Tizzard’s 66-1 outsider. This Stowaway gelding looked a big unit in the paddock side and had a lot of strengthening up to do, but he belied his odds to run an honourable third. He should strip fitter for this and can progress. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets 3m in the future.

Just A Sting returned to the track looking in top shape, but he was always sitting a little further back than ideal under Noel Fehily. He made steady progress from the third-last but was held on the run-in by the winner, Dancing Shadow.

Silver Kayf had improved from his previous run when falling at Warwick but was well held in fourth.
