Plenty of runners and potentially plenty of clues for future reference were on offer at the pre-Christmas fixture at Naas, and we did not have to wait long for the first of them.

This gelded son of Coastal Path raced in mid-division in the opening contest of the afternoon, was never able to make an impression and, without being knocked about, the 80-1 shot kept on to reasonable effect, beaten 53 lengths but showing definite ability.
