Manuka has the sweet smell of success

Manuka may well give trainer Karl Thornton the second leg of a Clonmel double

Dublin trainer Karl Thornton sends a significant raiding party to Clonmel for its final evening meeting of the year and he looks to have excellent prospects of carding a double.

Wakea will probably be a short enough price to land the opening maiden hurdle. He will be trying to land his second race of that type having been disqualified after testing positive for a prohibited substance when bolting up at Down Royal in May.
A more attractive betting proposition for the stable may well lie in a competitive Derrygrath Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (6.55).

The likes of the in-form pair Crosshue Boy and Bye Bye O Bye, in addition to course specialist You Can't Catch Me, will have their supporters, but Thornton may well strike with the Donagh Meyler-ridden Manuka.
