Losing run will soon be a thing of the past for well-weighted Bogart

Algam
Sixth, 6f maiden, Goodwood, Tuesday, August 1
In a bizarre race in which the pace wasn’t strong and the first three were prominent throughout, Algam was held up and simply unable to bridge the gap as the leaders quickened.

However, he wasn’t knocked about and there is more to come from this 200,000gns son of Kodiac.

Closely related to Lowther winner Infamous Angel, he had run with credit when second at Epsom on his debut two weeks earlier.

UAE Prince
Fourth, 1m2f handicap, Goodwood, Tuesday, August 1
UAE Prince endured a troubled passage in this rough race.

Drawn wide in stall 15 and held up towards rear, he made headway over a furlong out but kept on meeting trouble inside the final furlong and finished full of running.

Andrea Atzeni had a magical afternoon, but he was frustrated with his fate in this race and said he strongly believes this son of Sea The Stars would have won, which would have been no mean feat from his draw.

Roger Varian’s classy four-year-old had filled the same spot in the similarly competitive John Smith’s Cup at York on his first start since being gelded.

The free-going gelding can win a good prize this term.

Turnabout
Seventh, 1m4f maiden, Galway, Wednesday, August 2
The highly regarded Turnabout ran better than his finishing position would suggest from a wide berth.

Stuck on the outer throughout, Dermot Weld’s three-year-old still made good progress to go third but was strongly ridden before the home turn and weakened into seventh – although, encouragingly, he didn’t lose much ground under pressure.

Weld had warned beforehand that he would improve a lot mentally.
