>>There was a rare gamble landed in the opener at Wolverhampton yesterday but those punters who joined in were probably more animated than Aled Beech on the winner Scrafton, who did well to coax his mount home in a hands and heels race.

Backed from 9-2 in the morning to 2-1 second favourite at flagfall, Tony Carroll's gelding was scoring for the first time on the Flat in over two years when just shading favourite Cape Spirit and can be expected to pick up a similar event next time.

>>Plenty had their punting boots on at Dunstall Park a bit later in division two of the 5f handicap (3.00) but left it behind when the well supported Storm Trooper (6-1 into 3-1) could only muster third.
