Layers in paradise as Culmination crumbles

>>Donald McCain and Will Kennedy looked like adding another victory to their impressive tally in the past week as Culmination kicked two lengths clear of his field between the last two hurdles in the Wills Property Services Maiden Hurdle (2.40) at Sedgefield.

Punters rushed into backing him on the exchanges and £13,842 was traded at 1.01 when he pinged the last – looking like a horse with plenty still left in the locker.

However, the heavy ground played its part and he flattened out approaching the line which left the Nigel Hawke-trained Deauville Crystal to pick up the pieces and get up to win by a neck.
