Lake Takapuna could make a big splash for Culloty

There are some interesting maiden hurdles at Fairyhouse today. Although the card as a whole looks a bit tricky from a punting perspective, there is one bet that appeals, and that is Lake Takapuna in the 2m novice chase (2.50).

Although the five-year-old might have been rated only 112 over hurdles, he has already proved to be a much better chaser – and he creeps into this race off a mark just 1lb below the ceiling.

All three of his starts over fences have been encouraging, especially last time at Listowel behind Three Stars and Ball D’Arc in September. There is nothing of that calibre in opposition today, he jumps really well and two miles could be his trip.
