Knowledge can learn from latest defeat to collect for O'Brien

Dermot Weld belatedly reintroduces Ample Sufficiency for the season in tonight's extended 1m1f maiden (6.30) at Gowran Park.

Strictly on form, Weld's English Channel colt and the Jim Bolger-trained Saafarr are the two with the most obvious credentials. When last seen at the Curragh in the autumn, Ample Sufficiency ran on to finish a fine fifth behind Port Douglas, True Solitaire, Beacon Rock and Stellar Mass.

Those four are all, to varying degrees, Group-class performers and if Amble Sufficiency were to replicate or improve on that sort of display, he would surely take some stopping under Pat Smullen.
