THE Coral-Eclipse is one of the highlights of the Flat season in Britain and while the 2017 version may lack a true superstar it certainly doesn’t want for fascination.

There are clearly different ways to assess the form of the three-year-old middle-distance horses, but the market seems happy enough to consider them a good bunch as the Derby runner-up and fourth are first and third in the betting.

Official ratings suggest Cliffs Of Moher and Eminent are only the fifth and sixth best horses in the line-up – albeit not by much – in a race in which the weight-for-age allowance accorded to three-year-olds has dropped by 1lb to 10lb this year.
