The final set of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing barrier trials for 2021 took place at Dundalk on Monday. They were slightly less well subscribed than the two previous sets in June and August, which might just go to show that they have the formula just about correct now at three per year.

Overall, this year's trials did not quite match 2020 in overall quality, but as last season's triallists included National Stakes winner Thunder Moon in addition to other Pattern-level winners, that was a pretty high bar.

Once again on Monday, the numbers were dominated by Joseph O'Brien and he is well represented in the ones to follow, but a nice spread of stables were on site which reiterates the health of this scheme. Long may it continue.
