Jose to keep Slattery in profit with nursery victory

If your punting policy in 2016 was just to stick a tenner on anything Andy Slattery runs, you would be €463.30 better off now. The man who was first to teach Faugheen a few tricks has a 20 per cent success rate on the Flat with 17 winners from just 84 runners.

That impressive record could get even better on Monday as the best bet on the second day of the Listowel Harvest Festival looks to be Jose Echegaray in the feature 1m nursery (4.10).

The Lope De Vega colt shaped with promise on his debut in one of the hottest maidens of the year at Tipperary. The first three home there – Sea Of Grace, Eziyra and Leo Minor – have all won since and the form looks rock solid.
