Four of the five runners in the 5f handicap have won at this venue before, including GO AMBER GO (4.00).

The five-year-old posted a couple of lacklustre efforts in May and June, but she kicked off her campaign with a pair of victories and looked right back to her best at Chepstow last time out, leading into the final furlong but losing out to the strong-finishing Castlerea Tess.

Rod Millman’s mare wouldn’t need much more to go one better in this company.

PLATO’S KODE (2.00) picked up minor honours in two 1m5f handicaps here in June, but dropping back to this trip helped him finally get off the mark last time out.

The Seamus Durack-trained three-year-old was given a patient ride by Robert Winston and he came with a powerful late run that saw him well on top by the line.

That suggested he was a well-treated performer and this 5lb higher mark is unlikely to stop him striking again.

LLAMREI (3.00) has been unable to land a blow so far, but Jo Hughes’s two-year-old filly hinted at ability in three novice contests, including here last time out when chasing all-the-way winner Mraseel until getting tired in the closing stages. The switch to nursery company could spark a better display.

Beverley

CLENYMISTRA (5.15) has posted three solid efforts since joining David O’Meara from Marco Botti last autumn and looks sure to go well again.

The three-year-old filly kicked off her spell at this yard with a 1m2f win at Redcar in May and has run with credit in two races over shorter, just looking a little one-paced when fifth at Ripon last time.

She can get back to winning ways now that she returns to her ideal distance.

Thirsk

ITALIAN RIVIERA (8.40) was last seen finishing down the field in a handicap hurdle at Catterick in January, but he had previously been in great form, winning three hurdles and a 2m Flat handicap after joining Kenneth Slack from Ireland last September.

The eight-year-old remains on a decent mark in this sphere and should be hard to beat if fully tuned up after his subsequent spell on the sidelines.

Worcester

BILLY MY BOY (8.30) has been in decent form recently and should make another bold bid in the 2m handicap hurdle.

The eight-year-old landed a third career success at Chepstow in April and arguably produced an even better effort in defeat at Newton Abbot last time out, making most and only losing out on the run-in.

Page Fuller got a good tune out of her mount that day and the duo can strike over this slightly shorter trip.
