In-running carnage after result reversed
Backers who matched more than £10,000 on Captain Power at the minimum 1.01 in running on Betfair when he past the post in front in the 6f handicap at Naas had their fingers burned when he was demoted in a subsequent stewards’ inquiry.
The 11-4 favourite hampered Dark Alliance over a furlong out, but the decision took many by surprise and those who got a high of 120 on the promoted 5-1 winner probably couldn’t believe their luck when the result was announced.
Whitecliffsofdover was all the rage in the morning for the 7f maiden at Naas but, after being backed to 4-7 from evens, the support dried up on course and he drifted back out to even-money.
