Cardsharp shoulders a 3lb penalty for landing the July Stakes – in which three Gimcrack winners were successful. He found the ground too soft at Goodwood.

Frozen Angel was beaten the same distance by Sioux Nation in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes as he had been in the Norfolk Stakes. A couple of Gimcrack winners were fourth and fifth in the Curragh race in the 1980s and early 1990s.
