There aren’t many nicer staying chase prospects in Britain and Ireland than Sizing Pottsie and the imposing six-year-old bids to complete a hat-trick following his win in the Flyingbolt over 2m at Navan last time, when he won by a wide margin despite doing a lot wrong.

Sizing Pottsie touched a high of 18 in running from an SP of 11-4 that day. His jumping was superb, but he hit a flat spot on the turn for home and looked in trouble when headed by Cut The Mustard between the last two, running around with his head high and looking awkward.

However, when Robbie Power went for everything the engine went into turbo and Sizing Pottsie quickly put 12 lengths between himself and the runner-up, who reopposes here.

Sizing Pottsie looks a horse with a huge amount of natural talent and the switch to a right-handed venue promises to suit as he has a tendency to jump out to his right. The extra two furlongs are also in his favour as he was no stronger than at the finish on that stiff course.

He will need to finish in the first two to secure a profit for buyers, but I’m expecting him to prove a class apart and will be surprised if he doesn’t win, let alone finish second.
