Newcastle Placepot picks: Tom Segal has three bankers in his perm
It would be hard to describe the Newcastle meeting as being of any great quality but it is competitive and the Placepot will take some figuring out.
There are only six in the 6f handicap (3.15) but all can be given a chance, so it's safest to stick in a couple and the in-form pair Walking On Clouds and Jkr Cobbler make most appeal.
At least two will probably be required in the 2m handicap (1.15). Quercus Robur is worth another chance having been caught out in a slowly run race over course and distance last time, while Misscarlett put in an improved effort behind that horse on her last start.
The opening 6f handicap (12.45) is not a strong race and on his best form Trabajo Detecho will be hard to keep out of the first two.
Similar sentiments apply to Liberated Lad in the 1m4½f (2.15) as he stays well and arrives after a comfortable win at Southwell.
With First Snowfall a non-runner in the 1m2f handicap (1.45) the way is clear for the unexposed Rosa Del Rio to get off the mark for the Crisfords.
Finally, the well-bred Glen Buck won't have to be that good to land a weak maiden (2.45) on his debut. Born Ruler showed some promise on his debut and will be suited by the step up to a mile, so is worth including in case Glen Buck doesn't come up to scratch.
