'He could run in the Ultima and would be well treated as a Grade 2 winner'
Kim Bailey, trainer of Vinndication and Imperial Aura
Vinndication and Imperial Aura worked together this morning and I was very happy with them. We've got two weeks to go and if you've got fancied runners at Cheltenham you're always going to be excited.
David Bridgwater, trainer of The Conditional and Fort Gabriel
The Conditional will run in the Ultima but if it looks like he's going to get balloted out then we'll look at the Kim Muir. I don't think he didn't stay when fourth in the Classic Chase at Warwick. He's a lot better now than he was then, he just didn't get into a rhythm. Brendan [Powell, rider] said he didn't think he gave him a very good ride but I don't go along with that, I just think it didn't happen. Things weren't happening but we still turned in looking like the winner and then we got squeezed up at the second-last and that was it. He ran a good race and seems to be absolutely flying again now. Hopefully Fort Gabriel will get into the Kim Muir. He would just be a social runner really and hopefully he'd run a nice, tidy race. He's been in good form this year.
Jack Channon, assistant to Mick Channon, trainer of Mister Whitaker and Hold The Note
There was nothing wrong with Mister Whitaker at Cheltenham in the Cotswold Chase, it was just a combination of him being outclassed and the very tacky ground. You just have to look at Santini and Bristol De Mai – top-classes horses who were walking over the line. He got very tired but was fine after the race. If the ground was soft we might go for the Plate and if not we could look at the Ultima. What we do have to keep in mind is the owner Tim Radford is quite keen to go for the Grand National and if he's to run in that, he's going to have to finish in the first four in a three-mile race to qualify, so that could lead us to the Ultima. Hold The Note's work has been great and the novice handicap chase has been the plan since Warwick. They put him up to 145 and we didn't want to run in between and lose that handicap mark. We've always thought he was a nice horse and two-and-a-half miles up the Cheltenham hill should be spot on.
