Memories of two great Irish racing characters could converge on Monday since Palace Rock, bred by the late Peter Casey and trained by his son Francis, is a strong contender for the Lartigue Hurdle, named in honour of racing photographer and Listowel stalwart Liam Healy.

This four-year-old contest looks as competitive as ever, but Palace Rock has solid credentials, completing a fine prep run on the Flat at Gowran last month to back up the promise he showed when taking on older horses in his first handicap hurdle at Killarney in May.
